Jake Paul vs. Cody Ko Scandal

Earlier this week, youtube Cody Ko was featured on another youtubers channel, Jeff Wittek. He went on Jeff’s channel expecting the usual to happen, Jeff would interview him and they would talk about some personal and funny topics while he got his haircut. This is how the beginning of the video went, but as the haircut came to an end, Jeff had a surprise for Cody: a visit from Jake Paul.

Jake Paul is a very controversial youtuber who is more often than not involved in some sort of drama. From lighting his backyard on fire to being awful to his employees, Jake is a complicated and arguably awful person. Seeing as Cody makes videos poking fun at cringy or bad media, Jake has obviously been featured on his channel many times before. So, Jake took that anger from being made fun of (in a light, joking way) and attacked Cody for it. He set up a camera and then used the footage for his own video.

In the video, Jake runs up to Cody and tells him he bullies little kids and that he’s an awful human being. He then goes on to show a few clips from Cody’s videos where Cody is poking fun at people and acts very dramatically about how “bad” it was of him. This ultimately backfired for Jake, though, because two of the people that Jake said he felt bad for being “attacked” by Cody came out and said they liked Cody and knew he was only joking in the videos about him.

Cody made his own video reacting to Jake’s and Jeff’s ( who chose not to use Jake’s outburst as content because he had not wanted it to happen like that). He acknowledged how sometimes his jokes could be taken as mean but also how people know he is just joking. He also talked about how Jeff kind of ambushed him with Jake which wasn’t ok. In Jeff’s video, though, he talked about how he didn’t mean for Jake to be rude and he specifically told him not to, but that Jake went and did something different. He also said that this had just been one big ploy to get a shoutout from Jake in his video in order to show how Jake will do anything for views, even for some fake drama.

I think that with all the drama on youtube in the past few weeks that this was a bad idea on Jeff’s part. But, it already happened and Cody handled it professionally and calmly which helped a lot with the outcome of the situation.

  1. Cody is a legend. I do not watch his YouTube channel, however I do watch Real Bros of Simi Valley, which is definitely one of my top three favorite shows. The way he performs his stunts makes it so obvious that they are pranks and people shouldn't just use media to try to slam him. Jake Paul knows he has a very very large following behind him and uses it inappropriately too often. In ways, he uses the internet to abuse his power. Not only does he use the internet to abuse, but he literally abuses people in real life. Past members of his group have made videos describing their disgust with him and slam him for actually causing harm, unlike Cody who is here to make people laugh.
